Who was Condorcet ?

The name of our school is Lycée Condorcet. Condorcet was a philosopher. He was born in Ribemont, a town next to Saint-Quentin, in 1743.
He was born during the time of the French Revolution and the Enlightenment. Condorcet did research in mathematics, economics, philosophy, and education.

He defended educational equality. He wanted everyone to have the right to an education, whether they were rich or poor, man or woman. Condorcet was for secular education. He wrote reports on public instruction. He was imprisoned by his political enemies, he died in 1794.
